A little bit about me

My name is Penny and I’m 40yrs old and I’m married to a wonderful man who has supported me through my Nursing Career and now with my Massage and Aromatherapy Business.  I have three beautiful daughters and a menagerie of animals!  I live in the Blue Mountains and my home backs onto national park where I can sit and either listen to the sounds of nature...or sit and complain about the sounds of nature, depending on what time of day it is.

I’m a Registered Nurse who specialised in Gerontology. I loved working with the elderly and the stories I have heard over the years are mind boggling. There is no better way to learn your history than through the eyes and mouths or those that have lived it.  Over recent years I found that my role as a Nurse was moving away from patient care and more into an administration role.  Although this change brought new challenges, I was frustrated with lack of client contact.   In 2007 I was lucky enough to attend a short course with John Kerr from Springfields Aromatherapy and Michelle Casey (RN) where I was introduced to Aromatherapy.  I was excited by the prospect of using Aromatherapy with Aged care clients and their carers both in the home and in facilities.  I quickly found out however that without formal qualifications it would be very hard to institute Aromatherapy treatments into clients lives.

In April 2010, I attended a weekend course on massage and then in July 2010 I enrolled at TAFE NSW to get formal qualifications in Aromatherapy.   I was encouraged to complete the Cert IV in Massage Therapy as well and by June 2011 both qualifications shall be complete.   It appears that the learning process will continue further with Remedial Massage and additional courses in Lymphatic Drainage and Hot Stone massage being complete by December 2011.
